Omar Aswat
Chartered Tax Advisor
I have been in the finance profession for nearly 10 years, starting my journey as an accountant and auditor while studying at university. I quickly transitioned into tax compliance, began my ATT studies, and later completed the highest tax qualification in the UK, becoming a Chartered Tax Adviser.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of advising clients across all areas of taxation. This extensive exposure, combined with my technical expertise, relentless research, and deep passion for taxation, enables me to provide world-class tax advice. My ability to communicate complex matters clearly ensures that clients feel confident in the strategies we implement.
I specialise in areas such as inheritance tax planning, helping individuals and families mitigate and eliminate their tax liabilities. Additionally, I have a strong interest in property and investments, advising landlords on structuring their operations effectively. Other key areas of expertise include corporate reorganisations, EIS/SEIS, and R&D tax relief.
I firmly believe that experience is the best teacher. Each day in practice allows me to strengthen my skills and offer bespoke, comprehensive services to my clients. What I love most about taxation is its ever-evolving nature — constant revisions in legislation keep me motivated and engaged.
Above all, I find great satisfaction in helping individuals and businesses navigate the complexities of tax and save their hard-earned money. Who wouldn’t enjoy that?
For me, it’s about building lasting relationships with clients. I understand that trust and rapport are the backbone of any successful business, and I approach every client relationship with that mindset.

I completed a Master’s in Financial Mathematics and Computation, and after graduating, developed an interest in accounting and tax. That led me to join ASWATAX, where I support clients with tax and compliance work while continuing to learn and grow in the field.
Fun fact: I really enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles - even though I’m pretty terrible at them!

I started my professional career as an Economic Analyst at HMRC before moving into the tax profession, where I have now gained over three years of experience. I started my tax training and qualifications at RSM, one of the top 10 accounting firms in the UK.
I am now a part qualified tax professional having completed the ATT qualification and now currently completing the CTA qualification. During my time in practice, I have worked with a diverse client base across both compliance and advisory work, including family businesses, HNW individuals and international clients.
I particularly enjoy working closely with clients and building long-term relationships based on trust and clear, practical support. Looking ahead, I’m keen to broaden my exposure across tax and specialise in international tax, inheritance tax, and private business planning.
Fun fact: I was born in Portugal and speak four languages fluently — something that’s helped me connect naturally with a wide range of clients and colleagues.

I am a Chartered Tax Advisor and Chartered Accountant with over a decades experience in advising owner managed businesses and private families with respect of their tax affairs.
I act as a consultant with ASWATAX and get involved in complex advisory projects including but not limited to demergers, IHT planning, corporate restructuring and property incorporations. I also provide support and guidance to my colleagues with respect of compliance and other matters.
I heavily enjoy getting stuck into complex legislation, and creating solutions to meet objectives in a commercial, pragmatic way whilst keeping tax liabilities to a minimum. I pride myself on being able to explain complex topics in a simple way, ensuring our clients fully understand the advice they are receiving and are able to make an informed decision.
Fun fact: when I am not chasing around my two young children or producing tax advisory reports, you will likely find me on a padel court somewhere. I've definitely caught the padel bug, although I have a lot of room to improve!
